For some, the hesitation lies in this question: "Why would I go to a stranger to discuss some of my most vulnerable and challenging life moments?" My answer is that doing so is the most significant benefit. The therapeutic relationship between you and a therapist allows you to explore all parts of yourself without being concerned about how what you share may impact anyone other than you.
In this space, you can remove the mask you feel you must put on to face your world. That's where the work begins. As a professional, I want to create a safe space for you; I am not here to judge you. I am here to assist you in understanding all parts of you. We work together to identify the areas you feel you want to improve and learn the right skills to help you accomplish those goals. The truth is that it will be hard work, but the end goal will be worth it.

Couples therapy is helpful when the relationship feels stuck. A couple experiencing difficulty communicating or feeling mistrust, or a change in intimacy may decide to explore therapy to address some of the posing issues. At the same time, couples therapy can be helpful to couples who may feel they are doing well in their relationship but still want to explore treatment as a preventive tool.

Family counseling is when family members attend counseling to improve their relationships and functioning. While working with individuals, there are times when you must build on protective factors. When appropriate, family members can be a part of those protective factors, and it may be fitting to explore and build on those relationships. Family therapy can be utilized for a wide range of reasons. Whether it be to work on relationships, communication skills, or even assist the family with moving past a significant life event.
